Media's sterotype for single mums

Sorry I have a need to rant.

Last week I caught some of a show on the BBC called on the fiddle. It seemed to be a how decaded to single mums on in come support. It gave a horrid sterotype that single mums are on the fiddle and the one mum they show not on the fiddle, who had this brilliant idea for her own business getting next to no advance from the job centre on how to get it off the ground. She was unable to finance it so instead of going through other options with her it was a big fat we can't help. Why they couldn't balance this show by making it include people on the fiddle that weren't single parents I don't know. And they wonder why people have such a bad image of single parents.

For once can't the media show some more normal images of the single mum, working hard for her family, providing for them and having a healthy loving relationship with her kids?

What is so wrong with putting forward a positive image?

I just needed to get it off my chest.

It would do so much more good than all this negativity.
