13-02-2006, 8:44 PM Madi Joined on 09-02-2006 Posts 10 Moving away from father Hi I am looking for advice and opinions on a difficult issue. I want to move six hours drive away from my daughter's dad. My reasons for this are the following: 1. I only moved to this place to be with ex. My family (and also my ex's) live nearer where I want to move and I could do with the support. Also, my mum is getting on and I would like to be nearer to her. 2. My brother and his partner and children live in the place where I want to move. I would like to be able to share childcare support with them. 3. We had a very messy breakup. My ex is now living with his new girlfriend whom he had an affair with. The whole event has tainted all my fondness for this city. Has anyone else moved a long way away from the father of their child/children? Are there issues that I need to consider. I am anticipating that my daughter will miss her father like crazy to begin with as she currently sees him twice a week. Thanks for your time. Madi    Report

Access is the only messy thing here, either you will slowly see him less and less. Or he will want to have your daughter go and stay with him and g'friend. But my view is if you are happy, your daughter will be happy and have family close by has to be good for her, especially if she gets cousins to play with. You wont have the stress of being in a place where you may bump into your ex, or his g'fd at anytime. But reading your post, I think you've already made the decision, the rest is all about timing and being honest with your daughter (however young).    Report

I want to be able to feel that I have full thought about every aspect of it and I'm not doing it selfishly or to get back at my ex.      Report
