Resources for Support

Hi

Can anyone help with some of these:

Have been a single mum for nearly two years now.  My sons dad has him every other weekend and pops to see him for an hour in the week.  He has not had him for any holidays yet even though I have asked him.  Just asked him over email again this morning, politely - any advice?

Also does anyone know of any good self help books for single mums, I feel I need to be stronger with my son and set better boundaries ie. not give into him all the time when he wants a toy/happy meal etc.  Or any courses on Positive parenting.  Was planning on having a chat with my health visitor.

Thanks

Confused [8-)]

Hi Fleur,

Ok, i think your right your best starting point is your health visitor, if you use a nursery or childminder they too would be, as they know your child and will have insight into what works best. The only positive parenting course i know is life but you can always grab some tips from Supernanny and house of tiny tearaways from the telly. What your saying is you know whats wrong you just need some help and possible support in acting on them. (i think if there's some trained nanny's out there that want to start a new line of bussiness, being able to pay someone to come and help you for a few day or a week or even a month, especially when your first starting off on your own would be really be worth while).

Well hope it all works out for you and you you find your help else where do share, I know i could do with some help at times and I'm just seeing the first signs of the terrible two's to come.
